Redesigned User Interface with Liquid Glass
One of the biggest highlights of iOS 26 is its visually stunning new design. Apple introduces “Liquid Glass,” a translucent, dynamic material that reflects and refracts surroundings. It brings content into focus and adds vitality to app icons, controls, widgets, and navigation. Both the Lock Screen and Home Screen are now more customizable and interactive. The time on the Lock Screen adapts fluidly to image space, and spatial 3D wallpapers respond to movement, adding depth and personalization.
Many apps have received design improvements. The Camera app now features a streamlined layout for distraction-free photography. Safari presents a more immersive browsing experience with edge-to-edge content and quick access to key actions. Apps like Apple Music, News, and Podcasts now include a floating tab bar that adjusts dynamically to emphasize content. Apple Intelligence Gets Smarter and More Useful
Apple Intelligence is more deeply integrated in iOS 26, enhancing productivity and communication. Key features include Live Translation, which enables real-time text and voice translation in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps. Impressively, this functionality runs fully on-device, keeping conversations private and secure.
Visual Intelligence takes AI further by allowing users to interact with content onscreen. They can ask ChatGPT for more information about what they’re viewing or search for similar images or products across platforms like Google or Etsy. This feature can also detect events on screen and automatically suggest adding them to the calendar, including details like time, date, and location.
Genmoji and Image Playground are new creative tools that let users design personalized emojis and images using descriptions and favorite emoji combinations. These AI-driven features enhance messaging and self-expression.
Enhanced Core Apps and Experiences
The Phone and Messages apps have been improved to prioritize meaningful communication. iOS 26 helps reduce distractions like spam calls and unwanted messages. Updates to CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, and Wallet deliver a more seamless and intelligent experience across Apple’s ecosystem.
